In this next Alesis Forge Kit review, we will take a look at the electronic drum kit and see if it is a good choice for your own home musical pursuits.
To look at, the Alesis Forge Kit has got it all. This is a huge drum kit that will surround you with snares, hi-hats and more, allowing you to really let yourself go as you’re playing.
The frame is incredibly well made and uses a two-tone metal construction that really stands out as something that is premium and well put together.
There’s a great control for changing the sounds and this will allow you to pick from over 50 different factory-set options and 20 user-defined ones for a total of 600 sounds.
The drums have a really natural feel to them, providing just the right feedback as you’re playing to let your imagination run wild as you picture yourself playing to a huge sold-out stadium.
These are rubber pads that have a great rebound and that lets you play naturally and authentically. They’re large too – 11” snares with dual zones (for more expression), while the cymbals are also pretty large at 10”.
Those cymbals look very authentic too by the way – they’re designed to have the same motion and impact as any other cymbal and this helps to further sell the experience.
The kick pedal is also included here, which isn’t always the case.
What really makes this a pro experience though, is the ability to record and play backtracks. That means that you can lay down a beat and then play along – ultimately creating 5 layers to make something really awesome.
You can record up to 99 tracks this way via a USB memory stick. This makes it ideal for those that want to create their own elaborate music and really express themselves.
You can also play along with your favorite songs as long as they’re in WAV format. This makes it a good choice for the more beginner-oriented player also. Another nice touch? The drum sticks are included!
70 pre-set kits and 600+ sounds
This is a fantastically made drum kit
It looks stunning, it provides you with a ton of customizing options and the drums feel fantastic to play
Comes packed with a wide variety of more advanced features – allowing you to create musical tracks with multiple layers and then record them to share with others
This is one of the most comprehensive drum kits out there and is an easy recommendation
One downside perhaps is the fact that the drums are only two, not three zones
You also need to ensure that you definitely have enough space in your home before you invest in a product like this – as it really does take up quite a lot of room!
Overall, this is one of the most comprehensive and exciting drum kits on the market right now.
This is perfect for anyone who wants to learn by playing along with their favorite tracks, but equally it’s a great choice for those that want to get creating some real music.
